The Cold Steel 4-Max Scout was designed for durability. From the broad 4.0″ AUS-10A stainless drop point, to the renowned and bulletproof Demko Tri-Ad lock system, the 4-Max Scout will survive unspeakably rude treatment. This is a big knife. There’s no other way to describe it. It’s meant to feel and function like a fixed blade when you don’t have a fixed blade. The heavily textured Griv-Ex scales provide great purchase, even with gloves.

The big AUS-10A blade has a full flat grind, aiding in chopping and slicing. Besides providing good corrosion resistance and edge retention, the steel is easy to sharpen to a very fine edge.

The contoured Griv-Ex scales are large enough for almost any hand size. The slight downturn towards the pommel enables effective chopping and multiple hand positions. A generous choil helps when more precision for detailed cuts is required.

Cold Steel is perhaps best known for its invention of the Tri-Ad® lock, which they’ve proven through rigorous torture tests to be the most secure and safest folding knife locking system on the market. Designed by famed knife designer and Cold Steel collaborator Andrew Demko, the Tri-Ad® lock uses a unique combination of features that responds exceptionally well to both positive and negative pressures and has been tested to hold up to 800 pounds of hanging weights.
