Gerber DoubleDown: The Bushcraft Butterfly Knife

The unique Gerber DoubleDown combines the features of a knife, machete and hatchet in a very compact folding package. Designed with durability and safety in mind, the DoubleDown combines a 6.75″ stonewashed 420HC blade and the patent-pending QuadLock. This geared system ensures your hands are free of blade travel during closing.

The DoubleDown is purpose-built for three primary tasks: chopping, splitting and core knife work. For splitting tasks, the blade has forward jimping.  The jimping prevents slippage and maximizes energy transfer when batoning. For slashing and chopping, the 15″ overall length and slightly weight-forward design optimizes force delivered at impact. The slight recurve allows you to choke up on the handles and control the cutting edge for more precise work.

The QuadLock system is both safe and intuitive with a built-in safety stop to remind users to clear their hands from the path of the blade. All 4 locks must be engaged to operate. For added strength and performance, the design includes an overstrike guard and a stability bar. The DoubleDown’s dual handles are on geared tracks. This provides a good stability to the opening, but also keeps both of the handles in sync as the knife is opened or closed.

The DoubleDown folds up so exceptionally well that it can go just about anywhere. The QuadLock keeps it closed, too, making this a safe design for carrying in or on a pack. Includes a black MOLLE-compatible nylon sheath.
