The Ka-BAR Mark I USN is a remake of the world famous Mark I US Navy ‘Deck Knife’ from 1942. This updated version features epoxy powder coated 1095 blades for superb corrosion resistance and a non-reflective surface. Like the original, this version sports a classic stacked leather handle. At 5.125″, the Mark I was favored by sailors and soldiers who preferred a more compact version of the KA-BAR USMC fighting knife.  Tang stamped USN. Leather sheath included (made in Mexico).

During WWII, the U.S. Navy needed huge quantities of utility belt knives for use on board their warships. KA-BAR was one of a dozen or so companies that produced the very basic “Mark 1” to meet this requirement. The knife grew in popularity and respect as the people who used it depended on it for combat, rescue and survival situations.  The MK I even saw duty as a dive knife for Naby divers.

Like the USMC fighting knife, the KA-BAR Mark I USN is easy to sharpen in the field and at a Rockwell Hardness of 56-58 it is far less susceptible to breakage.
